Karakael was no psychic, though he was versed enough to detect (after some searching and observation) that they had no pulse. Unlike Elloran, he was wise enough not to complement their creator.

"You have my word I will not 'try anything funny'." He responded with another slight smile. Karakael was quite used to dealing with foolish children and arrogant youths. His own child soldiers would have laughed at Chika's attempt to intimidate him.

"I suppose I should apologize for my friend. He has yet to adjust to the community, and still forgets that in other worlds magic and souls are more than mere philosophical concepts."
